Minnesota Board of Assessors

The State Board of Assessors was established by the Minnesota Legislature in 1971 for the purpose of establishing, reviewing, supervising, coordinating or approving courses in assessment practices, and establishing criteria for determining assessor’s qualifications. The objective of the board is to ensure property taxpayers in Minnesota receive the most accurate and equitable assessment of their property possible. The Board also has the authority and the responsibility to consider other matters related to assessment administration.

License applications
The following applications are to be used for fiscal year 2006. Please note: There are no longer separate designation and license applications.

All license requirements must be completed before the Board will make a determination on an application. Application forms for CMA, CMAS, AMA and SAMA licenses are two pages each. Both pages must be submitted to ensure proper processing of the application.

Applications for the residential and income case study exams and course challenges/retests can be found on the Minnesota Association of Assessing Officers (MAAO) website.
